Department of Science and Technology

Department of Science and Technology was established under Decision No. 232/QD-ĐHCN dated February 28, 2008, by the Rector of Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI).

Function:

The Department of Science and Technology (S&T) is a unit under the Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI), advising the Rector to manage scientific research. Acting as the focal point for planning, implementing, monitoring, and reviewing scientific and technological activities; performing other functions as prescribed by law and the Regulation on organization and operation of HaUI.

Duties:

1. Research and propose scientific research direction, strategy, plan and execution of the university in long term and annually;

2. Lead and collaborate with other units in the university to develop regulations and guidelines S&T activities and initiatives of HaUI. Manage the execution of statues, regulations and regimes on scientific research activities;

3. Develop a process as the focal point for synthesizing, managing, and arranging the appraisal, assessment, and acceptance of scientific research works, projects, and topics at all levels. Proposing international collaboration and cooperation activities in S&T;

4. Manage and support Units on S&T activities. Coordinate with relevant units to develop and implement S&T incubator programs and activities;

5. Organize scientific research activities for undergraduate and graduate students;

6. Organize the management of intellectual property (IP) activities and technology transfer according to prevailing regulations;

7. Organize and manage the Initiative Activities of HaUI;

8. Managing, publishing, and isssuing Journal of Science & Technology. Organizing the compilation and editing of publications and websites on HaUI’s S&T;

9. Planning, managing the compilation of textbooks and organizing the acceptance, publication, and take part in the issuance of HaUI's textbooks;

10. Manage and organize the calibration of measuring devices and standard devices of HaUI;

11. Organize the selection of scientific research works to apply in S&T awards. Statistics and synthesis of results of S&T activities, improvement initiatives works, and standardize scientific research times of staffs, lecturers, and officers of HaUI. Providing data and information on S&T for Councils at all levels to evaluate the achievements, scientific titles, and scientific titles of staffs, lecturers, and officers of HaUI;

12. Propose and develop regulations on the operation and being permanent member of the Science Council at all levels in HaUI. Organize professional training and professional development to develop the scientific research potential of Units and individuals in HaUI.

13. Provide technical consultancy for projects to strengthen research capacity, key or specialized laboratories; select new technology and equipment etc. Lead, organize, and coordinate in researching and proposing new activities and professional training in HaUI;

14. Search, receive, and coordinate with Units to propose S&T research projects, programs, and apply of scientific research results, initiatives, and improvements to management, training, and other activities in HaUI;

15. Taking charge of and coordinate in organizing scientific conferences, seminars, Olympic competitions, scientific and creative competitions organized by industry and professional associations, activities, and HaUI's regular and unexpected science and technology information. Organizing and participating in exhibitions and fairs on S&T, fairs on technology and equipment; acting as the focal point for commercial implementation and transfer of scientific research results of HaUI's staffs and lecturers;

16. Taking charge of or participating in organizing S&T contests for staffsand students at university, national and international levels;

17. Managing and proposing commendation and discipline for employees ofDepartment ofS&T;

18. Manage assets and facilities ofDepartment ofS&T under the management unit according to the decentralization of Rector;

19. Implement the periodical reporting regime and perform other tasks assigned by the Rector and leaders of HaUI.

Performance of Science and TechnologyActivities

* Science and technology projects

During the period from 2011 to 2021, HAUI staff and lecturers have taken charged of and participated in the implementation of 823 scientific research projects at all levels, of which 683 are university projects, 43 ministerial projects, 24 provincial projects, and 21 national projects; 52 projects collaborated with other units outside the university.

In 2022, HAUI staff and lecturers have taken charged of and participated in the implementation of 67 university projects and 01 provincial projects.

*Scientific conferences

From 2015 to 2021, the University has organized a total of 27 conferences and seminars at all levels. In 2022, the University has successfully organized 9 conferences and seminars, including 3 national and international conferences.

* Scientific papers

From 2011 to now, officers and lecturers (CBGV) of the University published 2851 articles and scientific works in journals and specialized conference proceedings, including 539 international papers.

* Journal of Science and Technology

From 2010 to 2021, 75 issues have been published, including 8 special and 02 English ones. In 2022, 7 issues have been published, meeting requirements of quality and schedule.

* Textbook

From 2011 to 2021, HaUI compiled 270 textbooks. In 2022, 38 textbooks were compiled. The textbooks have been accepted and published as teaching, learning, and research materials.

* Technical initiative

From 2011 to 2021, HaUI had 4458 technical initiatives. In 2022, HaUI has 1283 technical initiatives. Many initiatives are applied in practice, improving training quality, scientific research, and work efficiency.

* Student research activities

- Student’s Scientific research: From 2010 to 2023, the University's students have constantly maintained and improved the number of research projects. From the dedication and passion of the students, the student activities of scientific research have contributed significantly to the development of the University and together build a creative and progressive research community.

* Robocon

From 2007 to 2023, the University always maintained high performance and had many robot teams participating in national and international finals. Typically, there are 02 times representing Vietnam to participate in international competitions in 2007 and 2008, 01 national championship in 2008 of FEE02. In 2023, the school's Robocon DCN DT 02 team won the national championship and represented Vietnam to participate in international competitions in Cambodia.

* Other activities

The Department of Science and Technology has actively participated and contributed to activities organized by HaUI, such as the flood victim support project, Nguyen Thanh Binh scholarship fund, Robocon, Energy-saving activities that won the collective encouragement prize, the individual second prize, actively responded to the campaign to study and follow Ho Chi Minh's morality.

* Noble rewards

The Department of Science and Technology was honored to receive the following noble awards:

- The Minister of Industry and Trade awarded the Certificate of Merit in 2010.

- The Prime Minister awarded the Certificate of Merit in 2011.

- The Minister of Industry and Trade awarded the Certificate of Merit in 2013.

- The President awarded the 3rd class Labor Medal in 2014.
