HaUI Student Scientific Research Activity Continues to Innovate and Grow

In recent years, the student scientific research activity at Hanoi University of Industry (HaUI) has grown strongly in both scale and quality, becoming one of the University’s flagship academic activities. It has contributed to improving educational quality, fostering innovation, and developing highly qualified human resources for the country.

On June 25, 2026, Hanoi University of Industry held the Conference on the Review and Awards of Student Scientific Research at the third floor of Building A11. The event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice President of HaUI; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Trong Chuong, Head of the Board of Science, Technology and Innovation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Tien Dung, Rector of the School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering; Dr. Dang Trong Hop, Rector of the School of Information and Communications Technology; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Manh Kha, Rector of the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Le, Head of the Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion Design; Dr. Tran Ngoc Khanh, Deputy Head of the Student Affairs Board; Dr. Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh, Deputy Head of the Board of Science, Technology and Innovation; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luu Thi Tho, Deputy Head of the Faculty of Garment Technology and Fashion Design; representatives of the Planning and Finance Board and the Information Technology Center; supervisors; and outstanding students representing more than 600 university-level research projects and teams selected to participate in ministerial- and national-level academic competitions.

Speaking at the conference, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Van Dong, Vice President of HaUI, noted that, building on its 128-year tradition of development, Hanoi University of Industry has consistently regarded student scientific research as a key pillar in realizing its aspiration to become a smart and green university, advance internationalization, and strengthen community engagement. In recent years, the student research movement has made encouraging progress in both quantity and quality. The annual review and awards ceremony not only recognizes students’ achievements in learning and research but also demonstrates the University’s sustained commitment to encouraging and supporting student knowledge creation.

Presenting the review of student scientific research activities for the 2025–2026 academic year, Dr. Nguyen Thi Dieu Linh, Deputy Head of the Board of Science, Technology and Innovation, noted that the quality of student projects is increasingly approaching international standards. All First Prize-winning projects produced recognized scientific publications, while a number of studies were published in reputable international journals indexed in ISI/Scopus or generated intellectual property outcomes. These achievements reflect the determination and perseverance of generations of students, the dedicated mentorship of faculty members, and the strategic investment and close support of the University’s Board of Management and unit leaders.

Beyond their achievements in university-level scientific research, HaUI students also demonstrated their capabilities in national academic competitions. During the academic year, eight projects nominated for the ministerial-level Student Scientific Research Awards achieved notable results, earning two Second Prizes and six Consolation Prizes.

Alongside scientific research, HaUI students achieved outstanding results in national Olympiads and professional competitions. At the 2026 National Mechanics Olympiad, they won one First Prize, four Second Prizes, 14 Third Prizes and 10 Consolation Prizes. At the 2026 National Student Mathematics Olympiad, HaUI students earned four Second Prizes and two Third Prizes. In digital technology and artificial intelligence, students continued to demonstrate strong expertise, winning one Third Prize at the AI Olympiad. At the Informatics Olympiad, they secured one Second Prize and two Third Prizes in the specialist category, as well as one Third Prize and one Consolation Prize in the non-specialist category. Students also achieved strong results in technology competitions such as Open Source and Procon, with one Third Prize, one Consolation Prize, one First Prize and one Second Prize.

The 2025–2026 academic year marked a notable breakthrough, with 621 student-led scientific research projects registered across the University. Each project represented a seed of knowledge and an aspiration to contribute. Following a rigorous and scholarly evaluation process, the assessment panels selected 46 projects for First Prizes, 108 for Second Prizes, 123 for Third Prizes and 336 for Consolation Prizes. These results clearly demonstrate HaUI students’ serious academic engagement, creativity and determination to pursue new knowledge.

Nguyen Thi Phuong, a student from the School of Economics, speaking on behalf of the First Prize winners, shared: “Throughout the research process, our team encountered many difficulties. At certain stages, we had to devote considerable time to searching the literature, collecting data, processing information and refining the study. There were times when the results did not meet our expectations, hypotheses had to be adjusted, methods had to be changed, and sections of the work had to be revised repeatedly. Yet these challenges helped us mature, learn to work scientifically, solve problems and collaborate effectively as a team.”

The achievements demonstrate the growing effectiveness of Hanoi University of Industry’s strategy of integrating education with scientific research, innovation and digital transformation. The student scientific research movement not only contributes to educational quality but also cultivates creative thinking, independent research capacity and practical problem-solving skills among students in the context of modern higher education.
