Scientific conference “Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Development”- An academic forum for a green future”
On May 24, 2025, Hanoi University of Industry successfully organized the 2nd National Conference with the theme “Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for Sustainable Development” (CCESD 2025). The conference is a large-scale scientific event, attracting the participation of many scientists, experts, and researchers from Vietnam and around the world. In addition, enterprise representatives attended the Conference, opening a prestigious academic forum to share knowledge, connect research with practice, and jointly seek solutions to global challenges.

The Conference was attended by many prestigious scientists such as: Prof. Dr. Tran Vinh Dieu from Phenikaa Research and Technology Institute; Prof. Dr. Tran Dai Lam who is chairman of the Interdisciplinary Professorship Council of Chemistry - Food Technology cum Director of the Institute of Materials Science; Prof. Dr. Tran Van Sung who is the former Editor-in-Chief of Vietnam Chemistry Journal and also the former Chairman of the Interdisciplinary Professorship Council of Chemistry - Food Technology; Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Viet from University of Science, VNU; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Minh Hai from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Furthermore, authors from many research institutes, universities, and enterprises took part in the CCESD 2025 both within Vietnam and internationally.

Representatives from Hanoi University of Industry included Associate Professor Dr. Pham Van Dong, who is HaUI Vice Rector, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thi Mai Huong, who is dean of Chemical Technology Faculty, Associate Professor Dr. Trinh Trong Chuong, who is Head of Science and Technology Department, and HaUI scientists, lecturers, and students.

In her opening speech, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Thi Mai Huong, who is the dean of the Chemical Technology Faculty, emphasized the essential role of chemistry and chemical engineering in solving urgent problems such as climate change, environmental pollution, and resource depletion. The conference received 110 abstracts and selected 91 full-text articles to be published in the HaUI Journal of Science and Technology. This illustrates the interest and active participation of the domestic and international scientific community.

The conference is not only a place to disseminate quality research works, but also a bridge between academia and practice, contributing to the realization of the Party's Resolutions on science and technology development, innovation, and national digital transformation. At the conference, the scientific reports are highly academic and updated with new trends, which brought creative and practical directions.
At the plenary session, three speakers received special attention from the Conference. Specifically, Prof. Dr. Pham Hung Viet with the speech on "Modernizing folk medicine in the Northwest region". His speech provided a new direction for developing safe and effective medicinal herbs, especially in protecting public health.
Associate Professor, Dr. Duong Minh Hai, shared the report on “Circular Economy Technology” solutions to convert waste into resources, optimize clean production processes, which can contribute to building a green and environmentally friendly economy.

HaUI's development orientation in the coming time is to build an interdisciplinary and integrated training and research ecosystem. Moreover, HaUI will invest in modern facilities, expand academic space, which can help reach regional and international standards to enhance the position of Vietnamese higher education.
